Since December 2015 I have been focussing my patch watching attentions on the Shalford Water Meadows/Broadford Marsh area between Guildford and Bramley. This corridor of wetland and woodland running along the Wey struck me when I first came across it as a possible flyway, linking well watched nearby sites such as Stoke Water Meadows, Thorncombe Street and Unstead Sewage Farm. The Wey and Arun Canal Junction lies towards the southern end of the patch. See the highlighted area on the map below and the more detailed, labelled map of the main recording area.
